| How often will I need
to practice? Your dog will learn best if
trained on a regular basis. We recommend working with the dog
for 15 minutes, once or twice a day.
Who should train the dog?
The same handler should train the dog in class and
at home. Switching trainers is confusing to a beginning dog.
Once the dog has learned the basics it will respond to others in the
family. All family members should be instructed on how to give
commands and have the dog obey. Everyone must be consistent
and learn to praise the dog.
Who can come to class?
Visitors are always welcome, but they must remain
quiet and seated during class. We encourage your friends or
relatives to observe our classes.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing is best for training.
Shoes should have non-slip soles. Avoid sandals or high heels.

Should I bring treats
for my dog? Absolutely! Food is a
great motivator for dogs. Be certain that your treats are
small, soft and easy for your dog to chew. Some suggestions are
sliced hot dogs
and cheese pieces.
Are classes ever cancelled?
In case of inclement weather, we may be forced to
cancel class. We try to notify everyone but, if you are in
doubt, please call Carol at 219-464-8793 or check the website.
What if my female comes into season?
We strongly recommend that all pets be spayed or
neutered. However, if your female does come into season, she
cannot attend class. You may attend classes during this time
without your dog and make up the missed classes during the next
session.
