Conformation Class - Begins February 8th.

Drop-In Conformation classes are held every Wednesday evening, 7:00 pm, at the Canine Country Club. 3554 Sturdy Rd., Valparaiso, IN. http://cccdogpark.com

Our new training facility offers a "show-like" environment. The class is taught by our club members on a rotating schedule. This affords the dogs the exposure to both men and women as judges and each instructor adds their own touch to the ring procedure.

Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations. Occasionally, items such as collars and leads are available for purchase.

Class fee is: $5.00 (on a drop-in basis)
Additional dog with same handler: $3.00

Obedience Classes - Next training session - Feb. 8, 2012

The Valparaiso Kennel Club promotes responsible pet ownership through their ongoing obedience classes.

The new building features a floor surface of continuous matting.

All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. We take a summer break during the months of June, July and August. Classes will resume in September.

Many of our club members participate in various other AKC Performance Events such as Agility, Herding, Field Trials and Water Trials. They would be happy to answer your questions, please feel free to contact us at: info@valparaisokennelclub.com.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class*

Due to the overwhelming response to our AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes, we will be repeating the same program beginning Febuary 8th, 2012, and running for 6 weeks. The fee is $80, which includes the testing. Preregistration is advised, because these classes are limited to 10 puppies.

Get your puppy off to a great start with this basic obedience program! This is a 6 wk. class which includes the test. For more information please click the link below.

Local Puppies Go For the Gold

Valparaiso Kennel Club is proud to celebrate the graduation of Sept. 19, 2011, puppies and owners from the AKC S.T.A.R.^sm Puppy training class. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program rewards responsible owners who take the time to train and socialize their new puppies. The program is a natural precursor to the AKC Canine Good Citizen^® Test. “S.T.A.R.” stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and a Responsible owner, all of the things a puppy needs to have a good life.

To earn their medals, the participants enrolled their puppies in the Valparaiso Kennel Club's AKC's S.T.A.R.training class instructed by AKC Approved CGC Evaluator, Carol Richardson. Classes included valuable training tips for puppy owners - such as how to housetrain - and lessons on practical skills for puppies -such as coming when called. The program is open to all dogs. Puppies can begin training as soon as they have the necessary vaccines and they can enroll in AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy at any point up until their first birthday.
